Saskatoon boasts a low cost of living compared to other major Canadian cities. It's the perfect alternative to living in a big expensive city.

Saskatoon has the lowest overall cost of living of the ten major Canadian cities surveyed in Saskatchewan Finance's yearly study on provincial taxes and typical household charges. The study is based on a single person with an income of $25,000, a dual-income family at $50,000 and $75,000, and a single-income family at $110,000.
Saskatoon's favourable standing in this comparison is the result of the low costs of:
- auto insurance;
- basic telephone service;
- home heating;
- electricity;
- housing (mortgage payments and property taxes);
- provincial sales tax.
